Last week, when we were in the neighborhood surrounding Temple University, we noticed several new buildings in various states of construction. We’ve already brought one, an eleven unit, ultra-deep building, to your attention. Today, we have an even larger project to tell you about.

From the past

Until fairly recently, 1516-18 N 15th St. was home to the Le Peristyle Haitian Sanctuary, an American Voodoo Church. Back in June, 1516-18 N 15th St. LP purchased the property, which sits on a 46’x173′ lot, for $765K. Doing a little digging, we believe that North Broad Living, a company that owns and manages a couple of other properties in the Temple area, are the folks behind this particular project.

And as you can see from the photos, this is shaping up to be a rather large project. According to the zoning application, the new building will be four stories and over 47′ feet tall. It will include thirty-six units, five parking spaces, and eighteen bicycle parking spaces. We don’t have any information on what the property will actually look like once it’s complete, but we’re hoping for something a little unique. Considering the diversity in appearance of much of the new construction in the area, it would be fairly appropriate. And hey, when you’re building something mammoth, why not?
