Right next to the QQ slaughter spot, where you can buy a variety of animals that they will axe for you on the spot, Chen Dun Liang will soon be opening a small grocery store. According to the zoning application, the first floor of 1118 Spring Garden St. will serve as a grocery store that will prepare food on the premises and do take-out. The second, third, and fourth floors will serve as three separate single family apartments, which seem to be coming along pretty nicely, at least from the looks of the facade. The first floor shows a bit less progress, to say the least.
This stretch of Spring Garden St. has a few other ethnic stores and restaurants in the vicinity, with a newish Mexican corner store across the street, Venezuelan Sazon a block away, and a couple of Chinese take-out spots in either direction. With Llama Tooth humming along, Union Transfer opening next month and Teaful Bliss on the way just down the street, there are plenty of other new or upcoming retail options in the area as well. This grocery will be one more addition to the scene, with hopefully even more businesses on the horizon. Yup, this neighborhood keeps on getting better- especially if you like your poultry extra fresh.
