For decades, Daffy’s sold famous fashion brands at huge discounts in their multi-floor retail palace on the southwest corner of 17th & Chestnut. When the store closed its doors late last year, it left a void in a giant and prominent retail space almost as large as the void left in the hearts of people who had been shopping at Daffy’s for years. Rumors have abounded as to what new business would fill this space, but earlier this week the news finally broke: Nordstrom Rack will be the tenant.

According to Philly.com, Nordstrom Rack will occupy the first three floors of the building. It will represent a breath of fresh air for fans of the store who currently have to travel to the burbs to get their fix. The store, according to a press release, is scheduled to open next fall and will have about 39K sqft of shopping space. For those unfamiliar with Nordstrom Rack, the store will offer “on-trend apparel, accessories and shoes at an everyday savings of 30-70 percent off regular prices.” A good thing, because who likes paying full price anymore?

As for the building’s other five floors, we don’t know what’s happening with them as of yet. We’d guess they’ll be offices or something unexciting like that, but if we hear something unexpected, you know we’ll letcha know.
