We’ve told you about several new hotels coming to Philadelphia over the past few months, but today we’re going to tell you about a rather old hotel. Well, the hotel itself isn’t so old, but the buildings that house it are older than some dirt you’ll find around town. Shippen Way Inn is located at 416-18 Bainbridge St., and stretches over two 250 year-old buildings that are currently available for sale.
The B&B has seven guest rooms as well as an innkeeper’s suite, along with a common kitchen, a deck, and a garden in the rear. The exterior of the building is clearly historic, but the inside could be altered for someone who wants to change the building into a very wide residence. Looking at some photos from the listing, the property looks to be in pretty good shape, with hardwood floors, exposed beams, a couple of fireplaces, and a large and functional kitchen.
As you’re probably well aware, the buildings are in an area that’s bustling with activity, and we don’t just mean the South Street scene. The almost open Bainbridge Barrel House is a mere block away. Next door, a physical therapy business will soon be opening. The northwest corner of 5th & Bainbridge was recently purchased, and should soon change for the better. And the list goes on.
So, if you have a spare $1.3M sitting around, this is pretty much definitely the place for you! C’mon, you know you always wanted to run your own little guest house in Philadelphia. Ok, maybe it’s just us then.
