In July, we told you about 2016-20 Annin St., three new construction homes proposed for the block that we once (appropriately) characterized as one of the worst in the entire city. The other day, a reader gave us the heads up that the developers had finally broken ground, so we decided to go check it out.
As we told you oh so many months ago, these holes will soon turn into three story single family homes, with roof decks and bay windows. We see plenty of foundations dug around town, but we can’t say we’ve seen too many projects taking such aggressive efforts to hold up the homes on either side.
Yes, this block is really coming along. With seven homes built on the western end of the block in the last year, and a new community garden/gathering place on the eastern end of the block, the addition of these three homes will represent additional momentum for the area.
And lest we forget, peering at the PRA’s minutes from last month, it caught our eye that other developers were in the process of acquiring another three lots on this block, ostensibly to develop additional homes and fill in some more of the gaps.
Hopefully, these new residents will all be huge coffee fans. Here’s hoping, at least.
