Over two years ago, we first brought 1201 S. 21st St. to your attention. At that time, we complained that the building was an eyesore, and hoped that the owners would either sell it or fix it up. Six months later, we learned that the owners were indeed working to improve the building, applying for and receiving a zoning variance to demolish the building and replace it with a new construction, mixed-use building.

In the past

Since then, it’s been pretty much status quo with the structure, and we were thinking that perhaps the plans had fallen through. Passing by the other day, though, we noticed that something was finally happening here.

Is this old framing? New framing? Is the building being demolished? Just supported? We don’t know for sure, but we are definitely pleased to see something finally happening here, which gives us hope that a new building will be appearing here in our lifetimes. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
