A reader tipped us off the other day that interior demolition had recently started at 1624 Annin St., in Point Breeze. On a block with mostly occupied houses and fewer vacant parcels than other blocks nearby, this qualifies as minor news.
The home was purchased a couple of months ago by JC Ventures LLC for $58K. We’re expecting a straightforward rehab and either a flip or for the house to become a rental property. You’d have to agree, those bricks look much nicer with the (almost definitely lead based) paint stripped off.
Meanwhile, just a few doors down, 1634-36 Annin St. appear to be making progress. These two houses, owned by an interest out of Teaneck NJ, have been under construction for years. In the Google Maps image, it’s a clear that a new facade had been recently built, but no windows or doors were installed just yet.
Doors have been installed, and windows are in as well, though they’re currently covered in plywood. At this rate, these homes should have occupants sometime between today and five years from now. Hey, slow progress is still progress, right?
Out of curiosity, does anybody have any idea what’s taking so long at 1634-36 Annin St.?
