Today, 1443 Dickinson St. doesn’t look like much. It’s a double-wide vacant lot in Point Breeze on a block with several blighted properties, and you probably wouldn’t give it a second look if you walked by.
Earlier this year, Charles Giunta purchased 1441-43 Dickinson St. for $63K, and according to a zoning application from last month, we’re expecting construction on this site in the future, with a corner commercial space and two apartments upstairs. The application also leads us to believe that Giunta will build a single family home at 1441 Dickinson St., the lot next door.
When we first noticed the name of the property owner, we felt that we had seen that name before. Thanks to Google, we realized where. Someone named Charles Giunta owns Giunta Prime Shop at Reading Terminal Market. Is it the same guy? We don’t know! But until we know for sure, we’re going to tell ourselves that a new butcher shop is being built on the corner of 15th and Dickinson Sts.
Is that a totally unsubstantiated rumor? You betcha.
But it sure sounds good.
