One of the items on last week’s postponed South Philadelphia H.O.M.E.S meeting agenda was a proposal for a three story, two unit building at 2314 Federal St., on a long-vacant lot.
This lot sits across the street from another vacant lot, across the street from a number of blighted buildings, and around the corner from some newish homes and some additional homes currently under construction.
In spite of the SPHINC meeting not taking place last week and the developer not being able to present the project to the community, he received approvals from the ZBA and should begin construction in short order. The development of this lot is good news for this block, and will hopefully spur additional construction in the general area, which has its share of blight.
Oh, and speaking of SPHINC meetings, we would be remiss if we neglected to remind you that the meeting, postponed from last week, will be taking place tonight, Monday 1/30, at Mount Zion Pentacostal, at 1232 Point Breeze Ave. at 6:30pm. We suggest arriving at least 30 minutes early. This meeting is expected to be packed to the gills.
Something about a Point Breeze coffee shop is going to be presented.
Hopefully.
Full disclosure: OCF Coffee House is owned by OCF Realty, parent company of Naked Philly. OCF Realty will also be managing the aforementioned apartment rentals at 2314 Federal St.
