Almost a whole year ago, we told you that OCF Realty had signed a lease for 1200 Point Breeze Ave., most recently home to the fabulously named Munson Manor. At that time, we told you that the concept had not yet been finalized for the space, and over the summer we suggested that a bar would be coming in here. A couple of possible operators have cycled through the space, and now a familiar candidate has stepped forward and signed on.

In the past

Earlier this year, Breezy’s Cafe opened its doors near 20th & Reed, in a location that we considered bold but not exactly ideal. In a developing neighborhood like Point Breeze, there are significant advantages for businesses to locate close to one another. With that in mind, and with an eye toward the revitalization of the neighborhood’s commercial corridor, Breezy’s Cafe is now moving to the former Munson Manor space.

Leaving here

According to the owners of Breezy’s, the business will remain largely the same in the new location, though they hope to expand on their “current operation of offering quality food made with natural ingredients for all diets.” They hope to continue to meet and get to know their neighbors in the new location, which should be open sometime in November. As for the liquor license that was previously mentioned, this will be pursued in the coming year or two, and could be incorporated into the business once it’s acquired. With whispers of a new bar coming soon to 21st & Federal from Avram Hornik, the importance of a liquor license was diminished, at least in the short term.

Bigger windows in process.

Recently, OCF purchased the building in order to make necessary improvements. As you can see, the property has been undergoing significant renovations in the last few weeks. We told you a few months back that this was coming. Large windows should be installed this week, and interior work will continue into next month. We look forward to seeing Breezy’s come into their new location, and appreciate what could soon be a critical mass of businesses at the top of Point Breeze Avenue.
