When we were on our way to check out the auto garage that’s turning into a bar at 9th & Passyunk, this green building caught our eye.

Huh?

1301 S. 10th St. was sold at the end of 2011 for $195K. The building, which sits overlooking Capitolo Playground and ballfields, is a spacious corner property that checks in at just above 2,000 sqft. Since purchasing the home, new owner has apparently gutted the place, but seems to maintaining it as a single family home (he hasn’t applied for zoning or anything like that).

What we’re not sure we understand is the new paint job. Although it’s certainly more striking than it was before…

More good news for the new owners- Rita’s (located just a block to the south) reopened just a couple of weeks ago! We can almost taste the gelati.
