It was over a year ago that we first told you about plans for twenty new homes at 826-34 N. 3rd St., a large lot that stretches all the way to Orianna Street. Back then, the developers were still negotiating the finer points of the project with NLNA but aside from some details it looked like the project was going to happen. Passing by the other day, we saw a project that's very much coming into shape, with the homes mostly framed out.

Kind of imposing

The twenty homes, which will include thirty-eight parking spaces, are being developed by National Realty Investment Advisors. Looking at their Facebook page, it appears they're the same folks doing the 75-home project on Swanson Street. For this project, though, they've hired Atrium Design LLC, a firm that designed the six homes currently under construction on 2nd & Laurel, to do the architecture work. Check out the renderings for the 3rd Street project:

Maybe you love the architecture here, maybe you don't. But there's no doubt in our minds that this represents a huge step up from the large vacant lot that's been here for years. And with the large building next door that's been under construction for at least three years apparently approaching completion as well, this block is about to get a ton of additional residents.

This thing is finally almost done

And this means that the brunch wait at North 3rd is probably about to get much worse. Get there while you can, folks!
