Mitchell & Ness, local manufacturers of awesome vintage jerseys, was located at 1318 Chesnut St. for years before moving to their current location at 1201 Chestnut St. The former location looks kind of rough at the moment, with plywood covering the storefront. According to sources at Samson Asset Management, the group handling the leasing for the space, the plywood is a temporary placeholder while they wait for a new, remodeled storefront, which should be coming along very soon. Also, some interior improvements are on the way, from what we understand.
Samson is currently seeking a quality tenant for the space, which measures approximately 3400 sqft. They are asking $40/ft/yr, but commercial leasing numbers will always fluctuate up or down depending on other negotiated terms. This large space certainly seems desirable, with Macy’s across the street and tons of foot traffic every day. And with the closing of the Borders just a half a block away, this stretch of Chestnut St. could certainly benefit from a new and exciting tenant.
Fingers officially crossed.
