Right near a corner that’s become a hotbed of development in the Francisville neighborhood, another project is on the horizon. 910-918 N 19th St. currently features a blighted building owned by PHA and some overgrown trees, but in the near future it could contain four new buildings with eight units, and parking spaces.
Merle Properties LLC is purchasing land from PHA and the City on 19th Street as well as Cambridge and George Streets with plans to build four duplexes on this site. Considering the current appearance of these parcels, this will obviously represent a tremendous upgrade.
The developers tell us that they already have approvals for this plan from the neighborhood association, though they haven’t gone through the formal zoning process with the City as of yet. The project could change somewhat before all is said and done, though they’re confident that the community will still offer their support. Take a look at these renderings, to get an idea of what the project may look like:
Yes, it’s getting weird just how much construction is going on within a block of 19th & Poplar. With the huge project from MJL getting underway, the second phase of the five duplexes on the 1900 block going up, three more duplexes in the works on the 1800 block, and the ten homes on Ginnodo Street in process, it shouldn’t come as any surprise when something new comes up for this area. We don’t know exactly who’s going to live in all these new places, but we have a feeling these developers will have an easy enough time finding eager buyers and tenants.
We’ll keep an eye on this site and update you once the plans here become finalized in the coming months.
