A neighbor spotting a zoning application at 827 Corinthian Ave. and asked us to find out what’s going on here. Just a block north of the Eastern State Penitentiary, this block sports beautiful three story brownstones, many of which appear to have been very well maintained over the years.
Considering this context, we were a little surprised to see a few vacant lots on this block, as well as a couple of homes that look like they could use a little more love. 827 Corinthian Ave. is one of those lots, and the building next door could clearly benefit from some attention.
According to the zoning application, Loonstyn Properties is proposing a new triplex on the vacant lot pictured above. We’re guessing these will be rentals, not condos. We have not seen any renderings yet, but we are hoping that the new building makes an effort to fit in with the other homes on the block, especially considering the interesting but dilapidated home next door.
And as it turns out, Loonstyn owns that property as well, though no applications have come through there just yet. With a vacant lot being filled in and the blighted home ostensibly getting inhabitants in the near future, we imagine neighbors will be as pleased to see the progress as they will be thrilled when the construction is over.
