It was over two years ago that the former St. Clare’s Monastery was demolished at the corner of Corinthian & W Girard, with plans for some big new buildings to be constructed on the site. Though the developer demolished the old and handsome structures, we learned that they would be reusing the Monastery facade for the new development. We got renderings from YCH Architects that showed how the old facade would be incorporated into the new project.
In case you don’t remember, the plan here is for
the construction of seven new duplexes fronting Corinthian and a row of eight duplexes immediately behind those structures. Here, check out the look of the buildings that will be fronting Corinthian:
Though we got all the details on the project two years ago, it’s been pretty much radio silence ever since. Readers have reached out every few months, wondering if we had any updates and we always found ourselves with no news to share. But recently, a reader gave us the heads up that heavy machinery was on the site, and earth was officially being moved around. Clearly, this means that work is finally getting underway here and that this two-year-old vacant lot will soon disappear.
Considering all of the recent development in this neighborhood in both the rental and condo departments, we have no doubt that there will be a market for these properties whether they’ll be for sale or for rent. Considering the location on the western end of Francisville, we the demand should be especially high. We’ll keep an eye on the project in the coming months, and will update you again once things are really rocking and rolling.
