In recent months new building in Fishtown has been on the rise. We wonder if like Fairmount development the past few years spurred rampant development in Francisville, its neighbor, with a nexus of building around 19th and Poplar, the constant Northern Liberties development the past two years will trigger a string of Fishtown projects.

The Fishtown Neighbors Association (FNA) recently approved plans for six family homes at 2170 E. Norris St. a block north of Frankford and Norris near an artsy stretch of Frankford Avenue. The property was acquired for $285K this February, according to public record.  The three-story single-family homes will include roof decks, 1:1 parking and enter off of Blair Street. According to Matt Karp, FNA zoning chair, the homes will be completed in one phase and designed by Bryan Philips at Interface and developed by Eric Fox at Space Development. That’s the same duo that developed The Nine, a nine LEED home project at 1702 Tulip St. in Fishtown.

These homes will be developed on a lot that’s sat vacant and untended for years. So perhaps it is true that developers are now eyeing long dormant Fishtown lots for their next projects. As usual, we’ll be watching.
