We've told you about several projects from BMK Homes in the last few years, with new homes springing up from these guys in South Kensington, East Kensington, and Fishtown. Today, we have concrete news of another project from this developer, and a theory about another in the works. Let's start by taking a peek at the current conditions at 2201 E. Norris St., a vacant lot.
BMK purchased the lot from the Redevelopment Authority back in December. They've moved quickly through the permitting process, and will soon be building a new home on the site, designed by KJO Architecture. The home is already listed for sale for $425K. It will have three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and about 2,100 sqft of interior space. Since it'll be on the corner, expect tons of natural light from all the extra windows. And the home will be 17' wide, so it should fell pretty roomy as well. As is the case with many pre-construction homes, a buyer has the opportunity to customize just about anything. Expected completion time for the home is November of this year.
You'll notice, there's a vacant lot next door to this home which still looks empty, even in the rendering. Though no ownership change is indicated in public record, we predict that BMK will also be building a home on this parcel. Permits have been pulled, again using KJO, to build yet another single family home here. We'll certainly keep an eye on the situation, and confirm once we learn some more facts.
So here are one and maybe two long-vacant lots that will soon be redeveloped. Can we count on the same treatment for the buildings across the street, which look really awful? Are these garages even in use? If not, can they please be demolished, like yesterday?
Or are we asking too much?
