We got our car inspected yesterday at a delightful place called Cona Motor on Juniper Street, just a block off of Passyunk Avenue. So we took the opportunity to walk around the neighborhood despite the continuous drizzle. And during this walk, we happened upon some new construction at 1840 S. Camac St., located next door to a cool building that houses an auto shop and a boxing gym.
Until a couple of years ago, this site was home to a large building that housed Mancini Catering. The new construction is clearly an upgrade over what was here previously.
The property is huge, going all the way to Iseminger Street and developers are currently building seven homes on the site. They're calling it Passyunk Point, with prices starting at $424K according to the project website. The homes will be laid out in a straight line between Camac and Iseminger Streets, with a walkway along the run of the homes and two of the homes on Iseminger Street having front-loading garages. Here, check out this site plan to show exactly what we're talking about:
Again, per the project website, six of the homes are still available for sale, with the largest and most expensive home (Unit F) listed for $650K. And as we mentioned, the location is phenomenal, not even a block from Passyunk Avenue. We don't see as much new construction in this area because the neighborhood has remained almost completely built up over the years, but if the developers are able to get the prices they're seeking, it's promising news for any other development that comes down the pike nearby in the coming years.
