Last winter, we told you about 30 Baltz, a project from MM Partners to build an eight-unit building on the corner of 30th & Baltz (duh) and build two extra-wide single family homes on the block as well. One of the homes has been built already (and the photo we took was blurry, sorry), but the corner lot has remained undisturbed until a couple of weeks ago. Remember, three blighted homes stood here until fairly recently.
So it seems that sooner rather than later, a new building will be rising from the lot pictured above. Meanwhile, half a block to the south, at 1218 N 30th St., a rehab effort seems to be approaching the finish line, at least on the outside. Back in June, we told you about this ongoing renovation, converting a former pub into a small office space, and creating two apartments in the building as well. According to the developer, they’ll be looking to rent the office space, possibly to a one-person law office or accountant or something of the like. While there’s still clearly some work to do, it’s much improved from what it looked like back in June.
Around the corner from this property on Stiles Street, we spotted some possibly new renovation efforts. A few months ago we told you about a rehab from Steph-Sin at 3007 Stiles St., and mentioned a number of other blighted properties on the block. It seems like one or two others may now be under construction, which is obviously great news for the neighborhood.
With the recent openings of Shifty’s Tacos and RyBrew, we suspect we’ll find ourselves in this area with even more frequency in the months to come. So if there are any updates to share or new developments to bring to your attention, we’ll be right on top of it.
