A reader sent us an email, giving us the heads up about three homes currently under construction within a few blocks of each other on the western side of Bella Vista.
609 S. 11th St. was a one story apartment, in the middle of a block full of two and three story homes. The property was purchased for $190K last fall, and new owners Broad Bay Investors Lp tore down the building and are constructing a new three story home in its place. Regrettably, the developers are going with a fairly standard, kind of boring look and opted not to go with the drawings suggested when the property was on the market. That design could have been a pretty cool addition to the neighborhood.
A block to the south, a new foundation has been poured at 735 S 11th St., across the street from Hawthorne’s. Like the property to the north, this was a one-story structure, but unlike the other property, it was a garage. Hunter Investments LLC purchased the property in 2005 for $280K, and have finally begun redeveloping the site. The garage is now gone, of course.
A couple of blocks to the west, a new three-story home has been framed out at 1222 Catharine St., across the street from the nearly completed Hawthorne Park. The home that previously stood here was a two-story structure that was purchased last month for $170K. Apparently, it couldn’t be saved. Not that it looked so nice in the first place.
The amount of development that’s ongoing and upcoming in this neighborhood is simply amazing. In our minds, Bella Vista arrived years ago and you wouldn’t think there would be so many available parcels for redevelopment. Yet, as we’ve shown all week, development keeps on keeping on around these parts. And it seems to be accelerating, to boot.
