A little over a year ago, Around the Clock Market opened its doors at 103-105 W. Girard Ave. in the space formerly occupied by Trax Foods. Now, this space could soon be home to another convenience store or whatever makes a new tenant’s dreams come true. We were heading into Fishtown yesterday and spotted a sign advertising 2,200 sqft of retail space at this location, with some of the shuttered convenience store’s wares still visible in the window.

No doubt, this location gets considerable foot traffic from folks living nearby and using the El, making the convenience store concept a seemingly attractive play. On the other hand, a 7-11 is located only a hundred yards away, which is probably one of the reasons that two convenience stores have not had success here in the last couple of years. Trax, of course, also had some other unfortunate problems before they closed.

What do you think would be an attractive tenant for this space? From what we hear, there’s also a large rear outdoor space that would also come with a lease. Restaurant? Day care? Doggie day care (the outdoor space would be a big help)? Doggie restaurant? Any other ideas?
