It seems that lately, we keep running into Pennsport projects on little side streets, tucked away from our typically prying eyes. Like the two-home project coming to the 200 block of Sears St. that we told you about a month ago. Or the demolition and addition on the 1300 block of Howard St. that we told you about the month before that. Today, we have a small project to bring to your attention, at 1327 S. Howard St.
This parcel has been a vacant lot for quite awhile, but will soon see a new building rise in its place. According to a zoning application that a reader tipped us off to, a four-story duplex is proposed here. The building will be wide and shallow, as it sits on a 32’x26′ lot, which means it will have a similar footprint to the new homes on Fairmount Ave. that we told you about yesterday. No garages, however, which means that both the future residents as well as the guy who illegally parks in the lot now will have to find alternate arrangements.
As for the demolition on Howard Street around the corner, it appears to be complete.
The building next door, however, still seems to be under construction. We saw a guy working out front, and there’s still a tarp hanging from the fourth floor. Offices? Residences? We couldn’t tell ya. Whatever it is, it sure looks nicer than it did a couple of years ago. Now if only someone would build a building on the now empty lots next door…
