Last month, we told you about the closing of John C Paul and Sons on the northwest corner of 5th & Bainbridge after doing business out of that location for decades. Today, we have some new information about two other properties in the immediate vicinity.

Tapestry

On the southwest corner of the intersection, Tapestry offered Beer, Booze, and Bites for about ten months before closing its doors last week. According to Michael Klein, the closing is supposed to be temporary. Considering the somewhat troubled history of this commercial space, however, we wouldn’t be shocked if this establishment never returned. We can recall at least four different operations making their home in this possibly cursed commercial space over the past six years, and all have shut down for one reason or another. Fingers crossed that Tapestry bucks the trend.

420 Bainbridge St.

Meanwhile, across the street, we’ve noticed some plywood in the windows at 420 Bainbridge Street. We remember a bank in this space years ago, but seem to recall it’s been vacant for awhile now. According to the sign on the building, the commercial space is divisible and that appears to be exactly what’s happening. As for what’s taking over the space, we’re not entirely sure. Could Excel Physical Therapy, already located in this building, be expanding? Or is something else going on?

Does anyone in the neighborhood have any ideas?
