Back in July, we told you about plans for a new OCF Cafe at the former Mugshots location at 2100 Fairmount Ave., across the street from Eastern State Penitentiary. Since then, plenty of work has taken place at this location, including a ton of work on the facade. Take a look:
As you can see, the plywood that was above the old windows has been removed, revealing bricks painted long ago. More noticeably, the old windows have been removed and their openings expanded, which will make for a lighter and more open space inside. We even got a rendering for what the exterior will look like when all is said and done:
Work has also been taking place inside, with demolition completed weeks ago and framing progressing nicely. Once complete, the space will be four times the size of the other two locations, with a coffee bar on one side of the space and a commercial kitchen on the other side. The food menu will stand in contrast to the two OCF Coffee House locations, which generally have only prepared food options.
Barring any unexpected setbacks, OCF is shooting for an opening in mid to late October, just in time for the popular and excellent Terror Behind the Walls across the street. We’ll be sure to provide any updates as they come along…
Full disclosure: OCF Realty is the parent company of both OCF Cafe and Naked Philly.
