Via Uwishunu, we learned that venerable Plays and Players Theater Co. at 1714 Delancey Pl. is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary season.
To celebrate, Plays and Players is presenting a series of staged readings of shows that were part of their first season. The next show will be a reading of The Learned Ladies, by Moliere, and will be presented on January 23rd, at 7pm. You can purchase tickets here.
Operating out of the Plays and Players Theater since 1913, the company has made a cozy home in this space, tucked away on a shmancy block of Delancey. In an era where new theaters are rarely opening anywhere but commercial corridors, Plays and Players is a true throwback to a simpler time, before such distractions as radio, television, and Facebook.
And Quig’s Pub ain’t bad, either.
