This weekend, get started early on your holiday shopping at the Art Star Craft Bazaar. This indoor craft show will feature 55 artists from Philadelphia and across the country, who will try to help you find a handmade, totally unique gift for that special someone. Offerings will include housewares, paper goods, dolls, prints, ceramics, clothing, accessories, paintings/drawings, sculpture, and many other one-of-a-kind curiosities, per the Bazaar website. The vendors are chosen by Erin Waxman and Megan Brewster, the duo behind Northern Liberties spot Art Star Gallery and Boutique.
The event will take place at the historic 23rd Street Armory at 22 S. 23rd St., in Center City. The armory is home to the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry, the country’s oldest mounted military unit. It’s also hosted numerous events in recent years, including other vendor shows, Philly Roller Girls matches, concerts, and parties. If you’ve never seen it up close, it’s pretty unexpected to see a building that slightly resembles Castle Grayskull (sans skull, of course) in the heart of Center City, but that’s the fun of living in a town with a diverse architectural history, right?
The Bazaar will take place Saturday and Sunday, from 11am til 6pm each day. Admission is free.
