On Saturday, October 29th,the Southwest Center City 5K Run will take place at 9AM at 22nd and Montrose Sts.
Now in its fourth year, the SWCC 5K brings people together to celebrate the neighborhood, fitness, and an important local cause. For a mere $20, you can join hundreds of runners on a scenic tour of the Graduate Hospital neighborhood and feel like you did something good for your body after a potentially less-than-healthy Friday night.
In the past, proceeds from the event have gone to Friends of Julian Abele Park, and a SOSNA campaign to install “Big Belly” trashcans in the neighborhood. This year, SWCC 5K intends to make a donation to benefit the Chester A. Arthur school, an elementary school in the neighborhood.
In addition to the run, the organizers of the event are putting together a Networking Happy Hour on Friday, October 28th, the night before the event at Ten Stone, on the corner of 21st and South Sts., from 6PM til 8PM. The happy hour will allow participants, sponsors, and neighbors to mingle and make new connections.
