The ever-present empty space of failed restaurants is really making its way around Philly; the widespread city problem has struck again (hit it Freddie Mercury). The former Copa Miami space on 17th and Chestnut is up for lease for $14,500 per month. The owner of the Copa restaurants, Bill Curry, was also a columnist at The Philadelphia Inquirer in the 70s until he realized margaritas are more profitable than proper AP grammar. Any business owner interested in the spot next to Sephora will get 2900-square-feet of space, a newly renovated kitchen, liquor license and lots of pedestrian traffic.
On a separate note, with one of the few “successful” (it always seems packed) businesses on South Street, and another University Location perfect for its demographic, how could Copa not have enough money to redo its website?
